Abstract

Various classes of antifungals including polyenes, azoles, echinocandins, pyrimidines, and allylamines are elaborated in terms of their structure, functional target, activity, and mode of action. A number of other notable inhibitors have also been reported which are specific against fungi C. albicans. Information on novel antifungal agents and inhibitors that are currently under preclinical or clinical trials is briefly included. We have also provided an account of differential expression of genes in response to antifungal drugs.
