Abstract

Additive manufacturing of advanced functional materials is a cost effective and rapid manufacturing technology for substituting the traditional fabrication methods. Advanced printing technologies are combined with various areas of electrochemistry for the development of the electrodes and devices; e.g. fabrication of electrode assembly for batteries and supercapacitors. There are few materials extrusion and binder jetting-based printing technologies; which make them suitable for the electrochemical purpose. Recent research has been carried out using the 3D printing to develop devices or electrodes for the electrochemical energy and its conversion and storage. This chapter highlights the utilization of sulfides or selenides for the development of electrodes and storage devices using 3D printing technology. It also briefly discusses the additive manufacturing technologies used in developing electrode and storage devices for the energy conversion and its storage.
