Abstract
Working from the top-segment enthalpy balance prepared in Chapter 21, Top-Segment Enthalpy Balance, the top gas temperature is calculated. The top-segment matrix is modified to calculate the associated top gas temperature working from the previous mass and enthalpy balances. The impact of increasing hot blast temperature on the observed top gas temperature is calculated using the new top-segment matrix. Changes in the mass of nitrogen ascending into the top segment are also calculated for various blast temperatures.
