Abstract
After calculating the top gas composition and enthalpy, we are now able to calculate the top gas temperature for gas leaving the top segment of the blast furnace. The top gas temperature is calculated for a blast furnace injecting 60kg of CH4(g) per 1000kg Fe in product iron. The impact of the CH4(g) injection rate on the top gas temperature is determined for a range of CH4(g) injection rates. Reasons for the observed trends are explained.
