Abstract
The top-segment enthalpy balance is completed and shows how heat from the bottom-segment interacts with the top part of the blast furnace. Total, bottom and top-segment enthalpy values are compared to illustrate the typical distribution of enthalpy between the top and bottom segments. The impact of increasing the hot blast temperature on the top-segment enthalpy balance is calculated using the modified matrix for the top segment.
