Abstract

The chapter describes properties, genome, antigenic characteristics, toxins and virulence factors, transmission routes and updated diagnostic techniques of Pasteurella and Mannheimia. The chapter elaborates mechanism of resistance used by Pasteurella and Mannheimia strains against β-lactam, tetracycline, macrolide, aminoglycoside, quinolone, sulphonamide and trimethoprim, chloramphenicol and florfenicol. Characteristics of antimicrobial resistance in Pasteurella and Mannheimia isolates from pigs and poultry are discussed.
