Abstract

This chapter, updating a review written for the 50th anniversary of the International Organization of Citrus Virologists (Bové et al., 2010), covers citrus diseases caused by ca. 30 viruses and viroids while briefly describes graft-transmissible diseases of unknown etiology. Prokaryote-associated graft-transmissible diseases such as Huanglongbing, stubborn, witches’ broom of lime, and citrus variegated chlorosis are not included here. The description of the diseases and viral pathogens includes history, symptomology, epidemiology, and latest research developments. The chapter also includes general sections on diagnostics, control, and concluding remarks on graft-transmissible viral diseases of citrus.
