Abstract

This chapter deals with applications including broadcast, news gathering, paging in public spaces, conference management, and safety alert systems. Microphones used in broadcast and communications include: the desk stand, telephone handset, noise-cancelling, boundary layer (BL), automatic mixing, those used for teleconferencing, handheld MS, lapel, earset, and high-directionality. The chapter also covers in-studio acoustics and practice, conference systems, paging systems, and paging in high-noise areas.
