Abstract

This chapter discusses the results of weathering exposure of fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP). FEP films remain essentially unchanged after twenty years of outdoor exposure with no evidence of discoloration, UV degradation, or strength loss. This outstanding performance is due to the structure of the polymer molecule and is not the result of chemical additives. It is found that tensile strength, break elongation, and electrical properties are essentially unchanged after twenty years of outdoor exposure in South Florida.
