Abstract

The book series on Nutritional and Health Aspects of Food in South Asian Countries covers globally the various regions in different volumes. This particular volume pertaining to South Asia entitled Traditional and Ethnic Food of South Asia covers some of the countries in the region such as India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Iran with individual country’s different aspects of traditional and ethnic foods. The Global Harmonization Initiative has the focus to address the subject with a holistic angle of culture, tradition, nutrition, health, sustainability, functionality, role of traditional wisdom, health, and wellness, nutraceutical potential, underutilized foods in remote area, and more importantly safety and regulatory requirements for a sustainable scale-up of traditional foods, global and regional challenges, and future outlook of traditional and ethnic foods for South Asia.
