Journal of Art & Design EducationVolume 3, Issue 1 p. 59-70 ‘But the Emperor has no clothes on’: Witkin's theories and a research based upon them ALAN SIMPSON, ALAN SIMPSON ALAN SIMPSON is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Arts and Humanities Education, Didsbury School of Education, Manchester Polytechnic. His publications include reviews and articles in The British Journal of Aesthetics and The Journal of Aesthetic Education. He is Editorial Consultant to the latter journal and a member of the Executive Committee of The British Society of Aesthetics. Among his current commitments are a paper for the next volume in the Pergamon series edited by Malcolm Ross, The Aesthetic Dimension in Education, and a paper for a UNESCO seminar in inter-related arts at the Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest.
