Abstract
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is an captivating technology, which achieves very high bit rate data transmission because it is robust against multipath fading and Intersymbol Interference (ISI). But, the presence of inter carrier interference (ICI), which occurs because of carrier frequency offset (CFO), caused by Doppler spreading and mismatch in local oscillator frequency, restricts its application. In this paper, we have proposed a better than improved sinc power pulse (BTISP) for ICI reduction of OFDM systems. We have compared our suggested pulse with existing version of improved sinc power pulse (ISP) with respect to ICI power, signal to interference ratio (SIR) and bit error rate (BER) in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. Our Simulation results depict that with the suggested pulse, the ICI power is improved by approximately 7 dB, SIR is improved by 5 dB at normalized frequency offset of 0.2, compared to ISP and w.r.t BER, at SNR of 14 dB, the proposed pulse has a BER of 10−4 while ISP has a value of 10−2.
