Abstract
The interactions of organic bases with several nickel(II) and copper(II) β-ketoenolates are described. The dipivaloylmethane complexes of copper(II) with bases are mono adducts, presumably five coordinate, while the adducts with nickel(II) dipivaloylmethane are psuedo-octahedral bis adducts. The nucleophilicity of the organic base toward the copper(II) atoms is shown to be influenced by steric as well as electronic considerations.
