Abstract
In the present study toxic effect of heavy metals (Chromium, Cadmium and Lead) was observed in two species of ciliated Protozoa (Dreponomonas and Colpoda species). Both Protozoa were collected from agriculture field of Madhepura district. Heavy metal salt used in this study were CrCl 6H 0, CdCl and * 2 2 Pb(NO ) . Lethal concentration dose (LC ) for 50% survival of Protozoa population was estimated with 3 2 50 different concentration of heavy metal salt using Sedge-Wick-Rafter chamber. The effect of metal salt on Protozoa was monitored with binocular microscope at every 10 minutes. The order of toxicity in both species was observed as Cr>Cd>Pb..
