Abstract
This study tested a theory-based model linking the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on health domains (i.e. work, home life, social life, emotional health, physical distancing) with critical consciousness (CC) development among a diverse sample of 291 Latinx immigrants ages 18–30. Results from global and local fit indices using structural equation modeling (SEM) demonstrated good model fit. Greater pandemic health impact from the COVID-19 pandemic was linked to greater critical reflection and action, but not agency. Tests of indirect effects with bootstrapping showed that CC development among Latinx immigrants took place in ways that align with theoretical postulations.
