Abstract

Activity-composition relations in the system MgOZnO were derived from the direction of conjugation lines between oxide and spinel phases in the ternary system MgOZnOAl 2O 3 at 1205±5°C in air, under the assumption that the spinel phase behaves ideally. The activity curves in the rocksalt region appear more complex than for the CoOZnO and NiOZnO systems studied previously. For the transformation: MgO (rocksalt) = MgO (zincite), ΔG = 9·6 kcal.
