Abstract

When simulating complex systems it is often advantageous, if not necessary, to decompose the simulated system. The subsystems arc described separately together with the description of their interconnection. Presently used simulation languages do not cope with this problem. This article introduces the formal apparatus for such a description based on systems theory. The term active node is introduced and its exact definition is given. The definition of interconnection of active nodes follows. The apparatus is intended especially for complex technical systems.
