Abstract

•Sporotrichosis is a subcutaneous subacute or chronic mycosis caused by the dimorphic fungus Sporothrix schenckii. •This infection is associated with traumatic inoculation of solid, vegetables, and organic material contaminated by the organism. •The initial presentation is a single papule at the location of the injury that becomes ulcerated and progresses to dermal and subcutaneous nodules and ulcers along the path of lymphatic drainage. •Skin biopsy is needed for confirmation of the diagnosis. •Azoles have become the preferred agents for treatment of several forms of sporotrichosis.
