Abstract

The purpose of this study was to research how eyebrow shape, height, and thickness and distance between them affect facial image. For this study, six types of eyebrows of six types of faces detailed interms of height, thickness, and distance were evaluated to produce 20 types of facial image. The collected data were analyzed sequentially, using technical statistical analysis, correlation analysis, and analysis of variance. The research shows that depending on the shape, placement, and distance between the eyebrows, “normal eyebrows” may appear to look older and mature, while “arch eyebrows” look gentle; “droopy eyebrows” look soft; “straight eyebrows” are classical, gentle, and mature; and “raised eyebrows” are fierce and confident. These differences were statistically significant. The facial image variables based on eyebrows were ironically relevant through multiple factors, and positive(+) correlations were higher in the following order: inelegance-elegance factor, rustic-refined factor, fierce-mild, rustic-refined factor, inelegant-elegant, uncomfortable-comfortable, uncomfortable comfortable, and rustic-refined factor. On the other hand, the unconfident - confident factor showed a strong negative (-) correlation with the fierce - mild factor. To conclude, this research has proven that type, height, and thickness of eyebrows and distance between them play an important role and are crucial variables when determining the factors which influence how people recognize faces.
