Abstract
Delivering a drug to supply its therapeutic effect in the targeted site ofdiseased human tissue in a human body with low toxicity is known astargeted drug delivery system. It has numerous advantages likereducing the frequency of drug dosage of patients, also performing auniform therapeutic effect of a drug with reduced side effects andtoxicity. This system is also known as a "Smart drug delivery" Itsultimate goal is to achieve pharmaceutical and therapeutic effects inthe system. Liposomes act as an important tool for targeted drugdelivery systems which is a long-circulating macromolecular carrierwith enhanced permeability and retention. This system mainlyconcentrates on delivering the nanoparticles of a drug only in theinfected tissue without the interaction of healthy tissue. A Targeteddrug delivery system is widely used in cancer therapy treatments suchas chemotherapy to get the required therapeutic effect on the tumor.
