Bud Benscoter, Dr. G.M. Bud Benscoter Budjaenscoter@vanguard.com Dr. G.M. (Bud) Benscoter is currently serving as an internal human resource consultant for The Vanguard Group, the world's second-largest mutual fund company, located in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Bud began his career as a high school French teacher before attending Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania, where he received an M.Ed, and a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Design in 1982. After leaving Penn State, Bud spent eight years in training, sales, and marketing for several computer companies before starting his own business. Bud partnered with Tom and Marilyn Gilbert in 1991, and they worked together until Bud joined Vanguard in 1993. Bud has presented at numerous conferences, workshops, and seminars on a variety of performance-related topics, from total quality management to interviewing skills to human performance technology. At this year's ISPI conference in Chicago, Bud delivered two presentations, one on training evaluation and the other on knowledge management. He has published several articles in journals and books, most recently in the September 1997 issue (with Leslie Moller and Lucia Rohrer-Murphy) of performance improvement. Bud has taught in the Instructional Systems Design and Management colleges at the Penn State University graduate campus in Great Valley, Pennsylvania, since 1985.
