Abstract

This paper describes a pilot project for shopfloor data collection currently underway at the Durham factory of Philips Components Ltd. (UK), where colour TV tubes are manufactured. The project is managed under a joint project with Durham University and aims to replace existing manual methods of quality control data with more efficient automated methods. The data will be collected with industrially robust intelligent terminals networked together via a low cost local area network.
