Abstract

The decays of 82 m Br have been studied by γ-ray scintillation spectroscopy and a beta proportional counter. This new isomer was observed to decay with a half-life of 6·20 ± 0·05 min, exciting a highly converted γ-ray transition in 82Br of 46 ± 2 keV. α K is 268. A total combined beta branching of 2·4 per cent was also observed. The thermal neutron activation cross section and resonance integral for 82 m Br are 3·0 and 34 barns, respectively, and the corresponding values for the total production of 82Br are 3·23 ± 0·2 and 41·3 ± 1 barns.
