Abstract
Abstract From the point of view of energy, a fundamental relationship of local stress-strain at a notch is derived. Defining K f , the fatigue notch reduction factor, in terms of such factors as cyclic behaviour of material, plastic deformation of notch root and theoretical stress concentration factor, an equation for K f taking into consideration comprehensively is proposed, and verified by the results of experimental K f and then compared with the values of K f predicted from the Neuber-Kuhn and Peterson equations.
