Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Acne is a multifactorial condition that mainly affects adolescents and can persist into adulthood, causing physical and psychological impact. Treatments range from topical to systemic, depending on severity, and include benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and isotretinoin, which act to reduce inflammation and prevent scarring. The pursuit of healthy skin is linked to both personal well-being and social and professional expectations. GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To analyze the efficacy of different acne treatments, considering their physical and psychological impacts on affected individuals. METHODOLOGY: The methodology consisted of an integrative literature review with a qualitative approach, analyzing articles published between 2020 and 2024, obtained from several databases, using specific descriptors and applying inclusion and exclusion criteria to select relevant studies. RESULTS: This study analyzed articles on the efficacy of aesthetic interventions in the treatment of acne, focusing on medications such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and isotretinoin. The results highlight their different actions, therapeutic potential, and the importance of professional monitoring to optimize treatment. CONCLUSION: The integrative review highlighted the importance of pharmacological and aesthetic approaches in the treatment of acne, evidencing the efficacy of medications such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and isotretinoin. The study emphasizes the need for integrated strategies to improve both skin health and the emotional well-being of affected adolescents.
