Abstract

Objective To compare the treatment result of interlocking intramedullary nail and external fixation in tibia and fibula fractures retrospectively. Methods Take the fifty-eight cases into two groups. One group is treated with interlocking intramedullary nail, and the other group is treated with external fixation. Results The interlocking intramedullary nailed group have advantage of lower rate of infection over the external fixed group. But they do not have significant difference on the part of healing and curative effection. Conclusion Interlocking intramedullary nail and external fixtion are both the efficient methods for the fracture of tibia and fibula. On the part of the complicating disease, the interlocking intramedullary nailedgroup have advantage of lower rate of infection over the external fixed group.
