Abstract

AbstractA cine technique was developed for use in an experimental investigation into beat exchanger tube vibration in which Visual observation was of prime importance. The film was required for recording, analyzing and for use in discussion of the work. As a high-speed camera was not available, the use of more conventional equipment in conjunction with stroboscopic illumination was attempted. The technique produced successful results providing the camera speed was far enough removed from both the frequency of the virtual image and the flashing rate of the stroboscopic equipment. If the camera speed was correctly chosen, the resulting film was of goodquality and secondary stroboscopic effects betiveen camera and virtual image were eliminated.
