Abstract

This chapter examines core critical success factors (CSFs) for IEC. This chapter argues that we are failing in our endeavors for IEC and global sustainability because the CSFs that are required for success are absent. This chapter argues that without the CSFs, we cannot hope to achieve transformation in our systems. Key CSFs that are examined include the revalorization of truth, preserving the integrity of science, and bringing compassion in our public administration systems. Moreover, this chapter also argues that we need to adopt a principled approach in our decision-making and policy-making processes, focusing on a principled approach to justice, peace, and democracy. Finally, this chapter argues that we need to realize the empowerment of key agents in society. Two means of empowerment are discussed: strengthening independent media, and collective security.
