Abstract

During recent years, friction stir processing (FSP) has become known as a beneficial method for mechanical alloying (MA). High inserted heat and strain during FSP can be applied to produce in situ intermetallics and modify the microstructure of alloys by increasing the alloying elements. These fabricated materials by FSP have shown an improvement in mechanical properties, such as hardness and tensile properties. However, there is limited literature about this application of FSP. Therefore, in this chapter, different examples of FSP application as a new route for MA are presented.
