Abstract

This chapter focuses on disorders that are major causes of acute and chronic kidney disease in infants, children and adolescents. The epidemiology of pediatric kidney disease sets the stage for a review of congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract, nephrotic syndrome, complement-associated kidney diseases, thrombotic microangiopathies that involve the kidney, systemic vasculitis with renal involvement, and urolithiasis. Finally, major morbidities associated with pediatric chronic kidney disease are reviewed.
