Abstract

This chapter explains the basic concepts of visual perception, visual comfort and the related characteristics of the luminous environment in tensile fabric structures, and it highlights the design issues and considerations when designing the desirable lighting conditions for performing a task or multiple tasks under these structures. Selected case studies have been presented to help illustrate the visual and luminous environment observed inside different types of tensile fabric enclosures, and generic design recommendations and guidance have been provided. Relevant technical data and information related to the optical properties of the tensile fabric structures are included in this chapter to further explain the light and visual environment in architectural fabric structures.
