Abstract

This chapter elaborates the product separation as exact solutions of the Schrodinger equation. Since, the relativistic wave equations are known only in very few exceptional cases that are far from fitting the experimental conditions. A systematic method of finding an approximate solution in realistic conditions is therefore required. One such procedure is the eikonal method, closely associated in general quantum mechanics with the Wentzel–Kramers–Brillouin (WKB) method. Its main purpose is to show that classical mechanics approximates the more correct quantum mechanical formulation.
