Abstract
Asymmetric reactions are useful approaches, finding over growing applications in the synthesis of biologically active compounds and pharmaceutically relevant substances. Especially, in recent years, the asymmetric multicomponent reactions have stirred up much interest and made great progresses. Optically active products such as dihydropyrimidines (DHPMs) are useful compounds, finding over growing applications in the synthesis of biologically active compounds and pharmaceutically relevant substances. At present, the synthesis of optically pure compounds in pharmaceutical and pharmacological research centers chiefly is based on the resolution, application and assisted chiral auxiliary in their asymmetric synthesis. Due to these important issues and applications, the development of different effective strategies for the synthesis of optically pure compounds has always been in much demand. In this chapter, we try to cover the most important and recent methods in the asymmetric Bignelli reaction, Ugi reaction, Mannich reaction, Michael addition, povarov reaction, Aldol reaction and Hantzsch reaction to give an overview to our readers as follow.
