Abstract

The management of cancers of the larynx and hypopharynx often can be challenging for oncologists. The larynx and hypopharynx are essential for daily functions of speech and swallowing; thus, optimal maintenance of these functions following therapy are critical issues that factor into management decisions. This chapter reviews the natural history of these diseases and options for management with a focus on the role of radiotherapy.
