Abstract
Osseous genioplasty is a powerful procedure that can entirely change the appearance of both the soft and hard tissues of the lower facial third. The advantage of an osseous genioplasty is that chin position can be controlled in three dimensions, which makes it useful procedure for changing the position of the chin and altering facial shape. The most common indication of an osseous genioplasty is to advance the chin and create a normal facial profile and the patient who has a dentally compensated class II skeletal relationship. However, the profound effect of the genioplasty on facial form makes it powerful procedure for facial rejuvenation as well as facial feminization.
