Abstract
This chapter focuses on various drug delivery applications of mesoporous nanomaterials as nanocarriers. The different types of mesoporous materials relevant to drug delivery applications are discussed in fair detail and state of the art strategies for controlled and sustained drug delivery using mesoporous silica-based nanomaterials are explained. Stimuli-responsive drug delivery using mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) including the concept of gate-keeping is presented. Further, a section on applications of MSNs for effective delivery of poorly soluble drugs is added.
