Abstract
Steam turbines are deteriorated in many portions after long operations. Their maintenance cost will be increased and reliability and turbine efficiency will be decreased. Turbine retrofitting and advanced applications could solve these problems. The first step will be to know the turbine deteriorated situation and residual lifetime of critical components. Turbine technologies for higher efficiency, turbine repair, and flexible operation have been progressed. It will become possible to make an optimum maintenance plan by knowing the turbine deteriorate situation and utilizing these new turbine technologies.
