Abstract
Recently, functionalized polymers and their nanocomposites have received remarkable consideration since of their modulated physico-chemical characteristics, low prices, chemical and mechanical stabilities, stable to ultraviolet radiations, ease of accessibility, and efficacy. Particularly, the utility of the polymer nanocomposite as photocatalysts offers a considerable contribution toward the production of green energies from photocatalytic water splitting and the elimination of pollutants as environmental remediation. The present chapter offers a comprehensive summary of the current advancement in the domain of energy production and environmental cleaning utilizing functionalized polymer nanocomposites. It contains the fundamentals of photocatalysis, photocatalytic water splitting as well as environmental remediation, and the application of functionalized polymers. The content of the chapter has mainly emphasized the synthesis, photocatalytic activity, approaches for enhanced photocatalytic efficiency under UV-Visible light, and recycle of the PNCs as photocatalysts.
