Abstract

In recent years, biomedical imaging technics are versatile and powerful tools for cancer management from early detection to final treatment processes. Medical imaging and bioengineering provide essential insight into structure, morphology, metabolic, stage and therapy planning of the cancerous tissue. Early detection of cancer tissues leading to decreased mortality is mainly affected by the accuracy of diagnostic imaging methods. Herein, the most commonly used imaging technics for cancer diagnosis including X-ray-based imaging, magnetic resonance systems, ultrasound, nonionizing electromagnetic, and radiopharmaceutical imaging are described in this chapter. In brief, the principle, kinds as well as advantages and disadvantages of these technics are explained in separate subsections.
