Abstract

The field of the detection and extraction of pesticides through the use of nanomaterials and nanoprocesses, nanopesticides, has emerged as a distinct research area in recent years based on the two underlying research fields of nanomaterials and nanoprocesses and pesticides. Although there have been a number of scientometric studies in the underlying research fields, there has not been any in the field of nanopesticides in particular. Therefore, this chapter presents the first-ever scientometric study focusing on the 25 citation classics in nanopesticides following a brief scientometric overview of the research in the underlying research areas. The research focuses on the innovative applications of nanomaterials and nanoprocesses in the detection and extraction of pesticides such as nanobiosensing, nanofiltration, and nanoextraction. The citation classics presented in this chapter were helpful in highlighting important papers influencing the development of the research field as well as in determining the key research areas in this field. The research in this field has strong public policy implications, providing strong incentives for key stakeholders involved in this field.
