Abstract

Quality and safety in radiation oncology are equally or perhaps more important than other disease factors in predicating outcomes both in terms of survival and toxicity. Understanding how to integrate the thinking of safety into the culture and operations of a department or clinic are vital developing programs that assure high-quality care. In this chapter, we outline the key components of a radiation oncology safety program and discuss the concepts necessary for practicing in a contemporary, just, and high-quality radiation oncology practice.
