Abstract

The world continues to rely on natural resources as its primary source of energy. It is the most significant key component that moves a country's economic development. In most countries, petroleum, oil, and gas are essential sources of energy. Oil, gas, and petrochemical industries are the most important sector that has positively impacted the world in various ways. Because of rising overpopulation, the widespread and intensive use of fossil fuels enabled urbanization, which ushered in the modern world. By discovering and harnessing the earth's vast reserves of coal, oil, and natural gas, modern civilization released from the constraints imposed by traditional energy flows. Overconsumption of natural resources has led to some environmental problems, such as climate change, global warming, greenhouse gas emissions, decreasing groundwater levels, and so on. The purpose of this chapter is to provide a comprehensive overview of the natural resource industries, their environmental problems, and recommendations that can be implemented.
