Abstract

The aim of this work is to evaluate the upcycling of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA), recycled asphalt pavement aggregate (RAPA), and silica fume (SF) in roller-compacted concrete (RCC). The compressive strength, tensile splitting strength, modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture, and density were determined. The water absorption of the RCC was measured as an indicator for the durability feature of RCC. Test results showed that partial replacement of cement with 2.5% and 5% SF has made the mechanical properties of conventional RCC mixes get enhanced, with other positive impacts, for example, decreasing the dry density of RCC mixes and decreasing the water absorption of conventional RCC. Although replacing the NA aggregates with RCA and RAPA in RCC mixtures retarded the mechanical properties, the RCC reached the required compressive stress.
