Abstract

The chapter begins with 2-N/-dodecyltetrahydrothiophene (DTHT) and 2-N-Undecyltetrahydrothiophene (UTHT) that are biodegradable compounds. Assert (isomeric mixture of methyl 6-(4-isopropyl-4-methyl-5-oxo-2-imidazolin-2-yl) mefa-toluate and methyl 2-(4-isopropyl-4-methyl-5-oxo-2-imidazolin-2-yl)-para-toluate is a herbicide that controls wild oat, slender foxtail, and other weedy grasses in wheat, maize, and barley. Azocyclotin, an acaricide with contact effects is also discussed. Carfentrazone, a peroxidizing herbicide is discussed. Clomazone is a soil-applied herbicide with control of many grass and broadleaf weeds in soybeans, cotton, and some vegetable crops. The compound Croconazole is a potent antimycotic agent. When male rabbits are administered croconazole by intravenous injection, as many as 16 metabolites are excreted in the urine and 13 metabolites are identified. F5231 is also discussed. Fenpyroximate, an acaricide that controls phytophagous mites is reviewed. Fiprinol is an insecticide that controls rice insects, thrips, termites, and click beetles. Flurochloridone is a selective herbicide that reduces chlorophyll and cartenoid production in wheat. 5-Hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde is used as a major part of sugar degradation. Hymexazol 0- and N-glucosides is a plant growth stimulant as well as a fungicide for control of soilborne diseases. Imidacloprid, an insecticide, Isoprothiolane and Isoprothiolane sulfoxide, Methaphenilene and Pyribenzamine, Methapyrilene, 5-Methyl-2-furaldehyde, 1-Methylhydantoin, N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidinone, Propiconazole, Spiroxamine, Tebufenpyrad, and Vinclozolin are some of the other compounds that are discussed in the chapter.
