Abstract

The article is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian teacher, the founder of scientific pedagogy, Konstantin Dmitrievich Ushinsky. The contribution of the scientist to the formation of the didactics of elementary school, to the creation of a methodology for teaching the native language is considered. The principles that the teacher substantiated as necessary conditions for the development of the Russian education system are characterized. Interesting facts from his life and work are given.
