Abstract

The article, based on various historical sources, examines the question of the origin of A.S. Pushkin’s interest in Russian history, its «heroic», pre-Christian period» (IX-XI centuries). The authors focus on the ancient Russian princes Oleg the Prophetic, Igor the Old, Princess Olga, legends about them preserved in chronicles and other ancient Russian sources. In this historical context, Pushkin’s historicism is considered in his poetic works, in the «Songs about the Prophetic Oleg», his historiosophy of Ancient Russian history in the deeds of its heroes mentioned above.
