Abstract
The article deals with the concept of «Big numbers» in a historical retrospective. There is the algorithm for writing and reading big numbers in the decimal number system. Big numbers are described in it, also their “value” is illustrated by practice using named numbers. Big numbers are indicated, which are named after their discoverers (the number of Shannon, Skusi, Graham). The units of information that are used in the modern world are considered by this article. International projects based on big numbers are listed there. Examples of big numbers in the megaworld are given.
