Abstract

The computing environment requires a reliable and comprehensive process for tracking and documenting user activity to maintain trust in the system. Logging is used for this purpose. However, logs that are created during the life cycle of an information system are vulnerable to a variety of attacks, including modification of logs, the possibility of erasing logs, and exposing user privacy. Many schemes have been created to solve these problems. Each of them has its own characteristics and its own views on logging processes. An overview of various schemes for protecting logs and approaches to the logging process is given.
