Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of words and phraseological units in the Ukrainian, Russian and English substandard, which have similar or even identical metaphoric associated parallels in their semantic structure. The signifi cance of language substandard, in particular slang, from the communicative aspect is emphasized. On the other hand the importance of complete understanding and proper translation on all levels of intercultural communication is underlined. Classifi cation of such words and phrases according to the lexico-semantic groups is suggested. Numerous examples of parallel word and phrase formation in substandard English, Ukrainian and Russian languages are provided with the analysis and description of similar and identical metaphorical associations in them. Moreover, such examples are provided for nouns, adjectives, verbs and phraseological units. The causes of the existence of the phenomenon of parallel metaphoric associative parallels are described.
