Abstract
The current pace of changes in socio-economic systems leads to a rethinking of the principles of personnel training for various industries. Of particular importance in the conditions of increasing geopolitical tension is the training of personnel of various qualifications for strategically important industries for Russia. Among such industries, there is no doubt that light industry should be attributed. The article touches upon the importance of additional education programs in the implementation of multi-level training of light industry specialists. The possibilities of additional training go beyond the formation of narrowly focused knowledge and specific competencies among students, the main function of additional education programs is to expand the basic educational program and improve the quality of training offuture specialists. The implementation of additional education programs meets the interests of both potential employers, students - consumers of educational services, and educational organizations that cooperate with representatives of the regional labor market. The content of the article defines the features of light industry enterprises, as well as the requirements of the labor market for future industry specialists. The author defines and specifies the updated functions of additional vocational education programs in the system of multilevel training of qualified and competitive personnel for light industry.
